After earning his master's degree at Duke University, Dave went on to his Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
His natural gift for guiding others led to a position as Clinical Assistant Professor of Behavioral Medicine at the UNC-CH School of Medicine's Department of Family Medicine. For five years, his teaching skills and approachability inspired residents to create a special faculty award in his honor, recognizing his contribution to their training.
